SECOND ANNUAL COOKIE EXCHANGE

Where: FSCC Fellowship Hall
When: Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6:30 -8:30 PM

DO YOU REMEMBER THE DAYS WHEN YOU WOULD SPEND WEEKS BAKING TO PREPARE FOR THE HOLIDAYS? COOKIES AND POPCORN BALLS, DIVINITY AND STUFFED DATES, CAKES AND PIES......YUMMMMMM!

WELL, THOUGH WE DON'T ALL HAVE THAT TIME THESE DAYS, WE STILL LIKE TO HAVE YUMMY HOLIDAY GOODIES TO SHARE WITH OUR FAMILY AND THOSE LAST MINUTE GUESTS THAT DROP BY. SO, SAFE HARBOUR LADIES MINISTRIES IS PLANNING THEIR SECOND ANNUAL"HOLIDAY COOKIE EXCHANGE".

ALL OF OUR LADIES ARE INVITED TO COME AND BRING AT LEAST 4 DOZEN OF YOUR BEST OR FAVORITE COOKIE RECIPE TO EXCHANGE WITH THE OTHER LADIES. YOU CAN MAKE MORE THAN ONE TYPE OR BRING MORE THAN 4 DOZEN IF YOU'RE REALLY IN A BAKING MOOD. MAKE SURE TO BRING A LARGE CONTAINER TO TAKE YOUR TREATS HOME IN!

This year in addition to the cookies, bring one childhood picture of yourself from Christmas either alone or with your family and something from your Christmas stash that really says "Christmas" to you. This can be a picture, ornament, decoration, anything that has a special Christmas memory for you to share with the group.

We will be serving a light meal of soup and salad so come join us for some great fellowship as we get into the spirit of Christmas.

Anticipate this Sunday!!!

>> Wednesday, September 09, 2009

Thinking, and looking forward to, our worship this Sunday (9.13).
We are planning, praying and working toward an amazing and uplifting worship.
The words of one of our songs comes to my mind:

"Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart from what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdoms cause..." - Hosanna (Hillsong)

Please - let that be your prayer.
Come Sunday anticipating an unusual time with God!

Remember: ONE SERVICE @ 10:00 AM
Pancake breakfast will follow.

Can't wait to see you ...and please invite someone to join you at FSCC.

Blessed...unexpectedly!

>> Friday, September 04, 2009

Last night, after a very full day, I stopped by our worship center.
How uplifting and encouraging to let the melodies and lyrics of our Praise Team worship practice wash over me. How blessed to just sit and not have to do anything but silently soak it all in.
This made me remember, again, why I am glad to be part of FSCC.

Here were a group of men and women loving what they were doing, singing, playing instruments and making practice a worship time in itself.
Laughter punctuated the "work" of preparing for Sunday. Sometimes an impossible key change would be thrown in just for fun - to see if anyone could hit the higher notes. Funny! And it became apparent why not all on the stage are given a mic on Sunday. :-)

The tune and the words have been running through my head (and heart) today: "You be lifted high, Lord, You be lifted high. . ."
Beautiful.
I can't wait for Sunday! Worship is going to be amazing, because HE is!

Next Ladies Study!

>> Thursday, April 30, 2009

Ladies: We concluded our Priscilla Shirer study, "He Speaks to Me". It was a great study that helped us learn how to prepare ourselves to hear God speak to us.

We will be taking a week off and beginning our new 6 week study on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30. We will studying Francine Rivers book on "Bathsheba". Both the Tuesday night and Thursday morning group will be doing this study.

The books are on order and may be in this weekend if you'd like to pick yours up to begin reading it. They are a fast read and you should have no trouble getting through them. They are $10.

Each week we will go over a set of questions that are supplied in the back of the book. Please feel free to underline or highlight things that you may have questions on or that speak to you so we can discuss them each week. The last study of this kind that we did on Tamar prompted a lot of good discussion amd this study on Bathsheba has the potential to do the same.

Please join us and invite a friend! We had four new women join us recently and really enjoyed a fresh perspective.

As always ladies, thank you so much for your willingness to come and study God's word. It is a privilege to lead this group.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

In His grip!

Pat

Baptism Service

>> Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Choosing to obey the command of Jesus by going through the water of baptism, to make a public statement of your faith in Jesus Christ, certainly gives God glory. Being baptized, immersed in water, is a beautiful picture of what Christ has done for you. He was crucified--put to death--was buried, and then rose from the dead as our living Lord and Saviour. Physical, water baptism, represents your belief in His grace and that you have trusted in Him for the gift of salvation.

This Sunday morning we will be having a baptismal service at 10 am. There will be NO Sunday School at 10 am. Instead we will flow right from the 9 am service into the baptism service. We will have a time of fellowship with coffee and donuts after the baptisms take place. The second service will begin at 11 am as usual.

Tenebrae is the Latin word for shadows. The purpose of this unique worship is to recreate some of the emotional aspects of the passion of Christ Jesus – to remember the long shadow of suffering cast by His cross. Remember what Jesus did for you, dying in the darkness of noonday on Golgotha’s hill. As we read the Scripture and darken the room, we portray His love gift of sacrifice for our sins. Praise Him and return on Sunday to celebrate His resurrection!

Worship Words #3

>> Wednesday, April 01, 2009

Nehemiah 8:6 Ezra praised the Lord, the great God, and all the people held up their hands and said, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. (NCV)
When was the last time you worshipped the Lord facedown? Several years ago Matt Redman wrote an incredible song called just that--Facedown. It talks about being ushered into the presence of the King and how we should tread with reverence. Do you feel reverent when you worship on Sunday mornings or throughout the week? Do we truly think about the words we sing as we worship the Creator, the King of the Universe.

Falling face down (prostrate to use a good King James term) was a sign of complete and utter demonstration of humility. I am man. He is God.
Realize that there is no one upon the earth who is His equal. As great as we think we are, we are not. We are so small compared to His majesty and glory.

As we worship our Creator this week, tread with reverence.
I don't mean you need to lay down on the altar, although if the Spirit moves who am I to stop you. What I mean is be prepared to worship in complete humility and adoration. Know that the One we worship is holy and deserves are complete devotion.
And I'll fall facedown
As your glory shines around
Yes I'll fall facedown
As your glory shines around

Worship Words 1

>> Tuesday, March 17, 2009

God has given us 24 hours in every day, 168 hours in every week to worship Him in whatever ways we like the best….Sunday morning is just an hour or two of that time for you and I. In fact, it’s less than one half of one percent of your week.

Less than one percent of our week and yet we stand there and nonchalantly sing "You keep no record of my sin, you don't remember all my shame." We sing "Lord, I give you my heart, I give you my soul..this is my desire." Are the words that are coming out of our mouths true or are we just half-heartedly singing because it's what is expected. Do we just stand there and let everyone else sing while we "patiently" wait for the music portion of the service to be over.

"Oh no, are they going to do another song?"

What goes through your mind as we worship together in song? Are you focused on the words of the music or are you planning your to do list for the week? I have to confess, I know I have been guilty of that before and that may happen sometimes. But my desire for us as a church is to take our worship to the next level and to truly "worship." To focus on what we are singing and to Whom we are singing--our Creator, Father, Saviour, Friend.

As we approach that small window of time we have to worship together on Sunday morning, set aside the worries of the week. Leave them at the door. Instead come in and expect God to meet with us. Plan on it. If enough of us do, He might just surprise us and show up.
